Description

The Porsche Kremer 962 #52 is a celebrated example of one of the most successful endurance racing platforms ever created. Developed from the legendary Porsche 962 Group C prototype and prepared by the renowned German team Kremer Racing, the car competed during the golden era of international endurance racing in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Combining immense turbocharged performance, aerodynamic efficiency, and exceptional reliability, the Porsche 962 became the benchmark sports prototype of its generation.

The 962 chassis utilised an aluminium monocoque structure fitted with lightweight composite bodywork optimised for high-speed endurance competition. The car’s aerodynamic design featured smooth long-tail bodywork, ground-effect underbody development, and carefully sculpted airflow management intended to maximise stability and straight-line speed, particularly at circuits such as Le Mans. The enclosed cockpit design improved driver protection while maintaining aerodynamic efficiency over long-distance races.

Power came from Porsche’s famous twin-turbocharged flat-six engine, available in several configurations ranging from 3.0 to 3.2 litres. Depending on boost settings and race specification, the engine produced between 650 and 750 horsepower, delivering remarkable acceleration and durability. The powerplant was paired with a five-speed manual racing gearbox driving the rear wheels, while fully independent suspension provided the balance and stability needed for endurance racing conditions.

As car number 52, the Kremer-prepared 962 competed against some of the greatest Group C machines ever built, including the Jaguar XJR series, Sauber-Mercedes C9 and C11, Nissan R90CK, and Toyota and Mazda prototypes. Kremer Racing earned a strong reputation for extracting competitive performance from Porsche customer chassis and remained one of the most respected independent teams in endurance racing.

Today, the Porsche Kremer 962 #52 stands as a symbol of the incredible longevity and dominance of the Porsche 962 platform. Revered for its engineering excellence, unmistakable turbocharged sound, and historic racing pedigree, the car remains one of the most iconic and admired Group C endurance racers in motorsport history.
